Thyra grew up dancing, singing, drawing, and, mostly, writing. The stories she wrote wove everything she learned and felt not only into the journeys of the characters but helped her internalize her own experiences. Eventually the pressures of life shunted her creative outlets to the furthest margins of her life. Anxiety and a gut-deep knowledge that something was missing led to a breakdown during her college years. She naturally gravitated back to her creative outlets in her need for healing, and it turns out she is not the only one whose life has unfolded this way. Artists, life coaches, and counselors and therapists have been exploring, documenting, and practicing creative recovery long before Thyra naturally turned to it. Ever since discovering she is one of many who can benefit from it, she has been pursuing how best to help others enjoy the freedom and renewal she found through creative recovery.
This website is where she shares her own journey and gathers resources to help others. If you want genuine connection to a creative journey unfolding in real time and solidarity in your own, you’re in the right place.
