Embarking on a Spirit-led journey of welcoming your creativity is exciting, courageous, and vulnerable. It means taking hold of your identity as a human made in the image of the Creator. It also means stepping into what may feel like unchartered waters. But through the chaotic and the unknown, God has brought beauty, order, and good; it’s what he’s done since the very beginning (Genesis 1).
I’m Thyra Root, host of the Creatively, Yours podcast.
I’m on this journey with you, and so excited to see what He will make of this summer as we step in together.
What does a discussion group look like?
This group is open to anyone who wants to learn more about creativity and spirituality.
The details:
- Runs the week of June 12th through the week of August 28th
- We’ll meet locally Tuesdays 6-7:30 p.m. (location TBD)
- 3-person minimum, 8-person maximum
Each week we will:
- Read a selection from The Artist’s Way
- Do one exercise from The Artist’s Way
- Read/watch/listen to some biblical input (a passage of scripture, a song, an excerpt from a book)
What is the time and financial commitment?
- Buy a copy of The Artist’s Way, $15 or less through most retailers.
- Two notebooks (any size, lined or unlined is fine – whatever you prefer).
- Readings and exercises for group discussion and the discussion times themselves may take about 4 hours per week. There will be journaling (approximately half an hour daily) and online posts to keep connected as a group as well.
You may want to read this article and prayerfully consider what habits, distractions, and commitments you may need to put away to make room for these 12 weeks of focus on recovering your creativity.
